I love Madrid. I don’t know how many times I’ve been there and sometimes I stay for few months. So every time I try to visit a new Irish pub… however… James Joyce (calle de Alcalá 59) is my favorite.
Why?
People are super friendly. They are always hosting a fun event. Food is good. And ladies… this is something I love… I’ve never… NEVER… seen the bathrooms in a bad shape. I always think if the bathroom in a bar is clean and organized, the place is great. And I’ve been during game nights when it’s super crowded!.
It’s easy to get to it, metro and bus stations are few steps away. If by subway: “Banco de España” or “Retiro”, it is between those 2 stations (red/2 line).
It is located between 2 big and important spots: Puerta de Alcalá and a famous fountain, Cibeles. So it’s very simple to located it.
And the live music is awesome! They have every other night a live rock band playing your favorites. Love them and they are really great people.
No Spanish? No worries… everyone there speaks English! You will meet local people and visitors as well.
Let me know what you think about this place!
