Bimini in a Day… it may sound like too little time, but it’s more than enough to fall in love! We arrived by cruise ship, though you can also visit by ferry from Ft. Lauderdale if you’re in Florida. Beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and that relaxed vibe The Bahamas always delivers. Bimini may be small, but what it offers is big: a day of total disconnection, relaxation, and good vibes. Here’s how we made the most of every minute in this Bahamian paradise.

Arriving in Bimini by Cruise
Most cruise ships that stop in Bimini, as well as the ferry from Ft. Lauderdale, dock right next to the Resorts World Bimini complex. This resort offers plenty of ways to relax and enjoy the day. It features a beautiful infinity pool with ocean views, a private beach, a spa, restaurants, bars, and even a casino for those looking for indoor entertainment. Many cruise lines offer exclusive day excursions to the resort, allowing you to spend the entire day in a comfortable environment with everything at your fingertips—perfect if you’re just looking to unwind.
Some excursions include full access to the resort with beach chairs, umbrellas, and food and beverage service, plus transportation from the dock to the resort’s main entrance.
If you choose to visit Bimini by ferry from Ft. Lauderdale, you can do so with Balearia Caribbean, and in just 2 hours, you’ll be enjoying this stunning destination. You can also take the ferry, stay one or two nights in Bimini, and then return to Florida. The ferry usually departs Ft. Lauderdale at 9 a.m. and returns from Bimini at 6 p.m.—they recommend arriving at the terminal two hours early, giving you about 5 hours to explore Bimini. Here’s the link to Balearia’s website if you want to learn more about their ferry service.
Besides the options at Resorts World, many cruise lines also offer additional excursions that let you explore more of the island. Some of the most popular include snorkeling tours on nearby reefs, guided visits to the Sapona shipwreck for shallow diving, dolphin encounters, and boat rides to explore the coast. You can also book a resort excursion to visit the “Healing Hole,” a natural pool hidden among mangroves, famous for its healing properties and unique setting.
Bimini in A Day – Our Day
When we arrived, we first walked over to Fisherman’s Village, an area very close to the cruise port with various shops, restaurants, coffee and ice cream places, and even live music as you stroll. There are also restrooms, seating areas to relax, or simply to enjoy the marina and ocean views. Although small, it has its charm and is perfect for a peaceful walk. We visited as soon as we arrived and again before heading back to the ship, since we picked up the famous rum cake and a few little souvenirs there.
In the same Fisherman’s Village area, you can take a taxi or rent a golf cart, which is a very popular form of transportation on the island. We took a taxi—$5 per person one way—and it took us to Radio Beach. On the way, the driver, a kind woman, told us more about the island, places to visit like the Dolphin House Museum (I share more about this in the video), and where to eat or shop for handmade crafts. As always, Bahamian hospitality is amazing—one of the reasons we love visiting The Bahamas so much.
The views on the way to the beach were jaw-dropping. We arrived at Radio Beach and—wow! What a beautiful place. The water is crystal-clear, and the sand is soft, making it ideal for soaking up the sun. That said, we found the waves a bit strong and the water a little too cold for our liking. We visited in October, expecting warmer temperatures, but other people were happily swimming.
There are also small beach bars and food stands. We sat down for a few minutes to enjoy the local beer, Kalik, and the stunning sea view. The bar was called Rehab, which I thought it was funny, and right next to it there was a food stall. We truly loved spending a couple of hours at Radio Beach.
I recommend bringing some cash with you, as not all local businesses accept cards. Especially if you plan to take a taxi—it’s better to have cash on hand. It was also easier to pay for our beers in cash (plus tips) at the beach bar. At the shops in Fisherman’s Village, we had no trouble paying by card for souvenirs and the rum cake.
