Fall in the US is a magical season, where the warm colors of the leaves change the landscape and the weather becomes more pleasant, especially in the south if you don’t like the cold weather much. I love this time of year here in Florida, since there is not as much rain as in the summer (hurricane season ends on November 30th) and nights are cooler and less humidity during the day.
If you are thinking about traveling this season and want to enjoy the gold and red colors, bundle up and contemplate landscapes that leave you breathless, here we present five cities that are transformed into an autumn spectacle and that deserve a place on your travel list. Destinations.
Aspen is famous for its winter splendor, but fall is also a wonderful time to visit. The aspen forests turn golden, creating a stunning contrast to the rugged mountains. In addition, the city is known for its gastronomy and artistic culture.
Asheville, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is famous for its leaf-losing forests. During autumn, the foliage of the trees turns into a stunning palette of colors, one think I barely see here in Florida and I enjoy a lot. You can enjoy these views on the Blue Ridge Parkway or explore the Biltmore Estate, the largest castle in North America.
Vermont is known for having some of the most spectacular fall landscapes in the United States, and Stowe is one of the highlights. You can hike the mountain trails or take a hot air balloon ride to see the fields and forests dyed red and gold.
Charleston, South Carolina:
Charleston, a historically charming town in South Carolina transforms into an even more captivating place during the fall. As temperatures begin to drop, the warm tones of the foliage create a spectacular color palette. I mean, I love this town any time, but I loved the different shade of reds and oranges covering the roads and parks.
Fall in Denver also marks the start of fall leaf season in the Rocky Mountains, which are an unparalleled natural spectacle. Foliage viewing tours are popular, and the city is the perfect starting point for exploring the mountains and enjoying the fall beauty of Colorado. I have only visited Denver during the winter time and I think it is a beautiful city, and Colorado in general offers beautiful landscapes, so autumn in Denver is definitely a great option.
Park City, Utah:
Park City, although it is very famous during the winter – they even hosted a Winter Olympics – it is a fascinating autumn destination as the season changes and the leaves on the trees burst into a symphony of warm colors. This charming mountain town reveals a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere during autumn. I love walking through its streets, stopping at one of its restaurants to enjoy a little wine accompanied by a good meal and obviously appreciate the spectacular panorama that leaves you breathless.
Fall in the United States offers a wide range of stunning destinations to enjoy the beauty of nature and local culture. Whether you’re looking for stunning natural landscapes, historic architecture, or culinary experiences, these cities have something for every fall lover.
