I’ve been coming to Madrid since 2007, I think I’ve been visiting every year, for few days or even stay in Spain for months (less than 90days of course). I love the nightlife in this city! It’s always super fun and you’ll find so many places to visit, or even go bar hopping. Plus I think every one is super friendly here that invites you even more to come and visit Madrid.

Sometimes, when I come with my parents, we just go around ‘el centro’ with my ‘local family’ (old friends that are like family to me) for mojitos during Summer. It’s always fun.

But of course, like in South Florida or in Orlando, I have my favorite spots (bars or restaurants) I always go back. Here are some of those I visited while in town between October 2015 – January 2016:

James Joyce Irish Pub. It’s located between Plaza de Cibeles and Puerta de Alcalá, by Calle Alcalá. It has a terrace to sit outside (which it’s very typical during Summer) or inside with great music or lot of screens to watch your games (usually soccer/football, American football or rugby). The place is really good, everyone speaks English, super friendly staff, and every other night live music with various bands. I’ve been visiting since Spring 2014 and love it! Food is good too!!

Maye’s Bistró. It’s located in Las Tablas. They have various type of hamburgers and delicious and unique sauces. I tried about 3 sauces with fries and the one on my Borges burger, it was so yummy, all made by owners so you only find them at Maye’s Bistró. I also tried a Baileys Cheesecake that was mouthwatering!. Staff are super friendly and nice. Tequeños (Venezuelan dish) and fries with cheese and bacon are so good too. Plus, they also have a began burger! They speak English.

Mercado de San Miguel. By Plaza Mayor you’ll find this place. I love it! You get to try various ‘tapas’ and drinks. The place is amazing. Food is good. The bad side, it’s hard to find a table, but a lot of people are just standing with their drinks and tapas. I think this is a must place to visit while in Madrid.

Moby Dick Club. I’ve been there just once, hope to go back again. It’s really fun. If you life pop, a little bit of rock, maybe some latin and remixes… and of course good drinks, this is a great spot to visit! They play a little bit of everything, the decoration is fun, makes you feel inside of a boat, I had a Vodka Tonic and it was good and huge! It’s located close to Santiago Bernabeu and next to… (next place)

The Irish Rover. Again, been there just once after I left Moby Dick just to grab a beer and get to know this place. It’s a big pub, 2 floors, great music. I’d like to go back again and experience it longer. It really looks like a good place to hang out.

Arepa Olé. Ok, so this is a Venezuelan fast food restaurant. As a Venezuelan around the world, specially if I’m away from Venezuela or even South Florida (I do find lot of things from Venezuela in S.FL) for so long, I sometimes miss my delicious dishes. I’ve tried a couple of places to eat ‘cachapas’ and this one is the best so far. Small shop, they have different dishes like ‘arepas’ and Venezuelan beer ‘polar’. It’s located in Chueca, although I think they also have it close to Plaza Mayor. Staff is very helpful and nice, although a woman that works there could smile a bit, but she’s friendly. Don’t forget to try ‘tequeños’.

Chocolatería San Gines: Impossible to miss! Doesn’t matter if you visit during Summer or Winter, this is a great place to get (at any time) Churros and Hot Chocolate. They are delicious!! And it’s very popular, so be prepare to make some lines and find a table! You just go to the cashier to order and they’ll give you a ticket to give to a waiter.

Gran Via Gourmet Experience. There are some ‘Corte Inglés’ that has this amazing area for tapas and drinks, but the one in Callao is awesome because of the view! Visit this place, grab some dishes and drinks and enjoy the view to part of Madrid! It might be crowded when you visit, be ready to wait for a table. During this trip I went for breakfast and drinks by the end of a day.

La Veronica Restaurant. I tried once because we were looking for a place to have dinner and everything was super full. Great place! Super cute, delicious food and very friendly staff. It’s very close to Museo del Prado. By the time I visited, they didn’t have few dishes, but were exchanged by others. Desserts were so good too!

  1. Many thanks for your visit Fromista so far to try our burgers! We love that you enjoy it! The Borges, with provolone and chimichurri is a favorite of Daniel and many customers. The Baileys cheesecake is suitable for celiacs. Yoss, thanks a lot for your review and we hope you return very soon !
